"Angus" means "chosen one" or "exceptional" and this youngster certainly is. BLT Eagle Bear's Angus has a personality that matches his shining presence and excellent conformation. He is a friendly, active youngster who wants to go. He loves hiking and negotiating obstacles on the trail. We are very pleased with him.
Angus' basic training included all the things a young llama needs to know to function comfortably in with humans. This includes being fully handleable, negotiating all manner of obstacles, calmly tolerating new and confusing situations, loading/unloading, and traveling without stress. Angus has excelled in all areas.
Angus now is in field training. Navigating snow or enduring the intense summer heat, training with Angus means scrambling through rocky streambeds, climbing up narrow slots in basalt cliffs, winding through sagebrush, and clammering across the boot-eating rock of ancient lava beds. Trails are foot tangling cowpaths or none at all. Wearing his training saddle and working in a string with his mentor-llama, Angus handles these situations well. He shows the enthusiasm and skill necessary to become a superb pack llama. Angus will have no trouble completing certification as a top PLTA Pack Llama.
(Please see the PLTA Pack Trial Handbook for a complete explanation of certification requirements.)
Angus is a breeding quality male who comes from highly capable packing stock. His excellent conformation supports superior athleticism while his willing personality makes him a wonderful companion even at this young age. Angus comes from a line of proven producers and superb packers. His heritage includes:
- Sire: Wahoo's Eagle Bear, is a PLTA Master Pack Llama who will complete his PLTA Elite Pack Llama certification in the spring of 2024. - Dam: Augusta Edition is a registered Ccara. She has a PLTA Basic Pack Llama certificate, and successfully competed in Maiden Performance classes. She is an excellent producer and the mother of excellent producers and performance llamas.
- Grandsire: UC Wahoo was a reserve champion at halter and one of nine llamas to earn PLTA Elite Pack Llama certificates, and was a foundation sire for our herd. He produced 16 crias all of whom completed PLTA pack llama certifications and have extensive packing histories. Wahoo's resume
