BLT Agate is a growing boy who greets his breakfast with high flung leaps, piroettes and arabesques. His enthusiasm for life doesn't end with breakfast. He loves hiking and exploring our rugged outback.
Agate's basic training has included all the things a young llama needs to know to work comfortably with humans. This includes being fully handleable, negotiating all manner of obstacles, calmly tolerating new and confusing situations, loading/unloading and traveling without stress. Agate does well in all areas.
Agate is thoroughly engaged in field training. He carries a saddle and puffed out panniers while negotiating rough country amid canyons and cliffs of the sagebrush steppe. Agate enthusiastically handles breaks in cliffs, steep rocky hillsides, jumps, water, snow, brush and other trail obstacles. Agate is rapidly gaining confidence in working in a string. He will earn certification as a PLTA Basic Pack Llama in the spring of 2024.
Agate is a quality male whose heavy bone supports superior athleticism. He comes from a line of superb packers and proven producers. His heritage includes:
- Sire: BLT Chert has eye catching presence and physique. He has the balance, presence, physique and attitued we breed for. He is an accomplished pack llama who has earned his PLTA Master Pack Llama certificate and will complete his PLTA Elite Pack Llama certification in the spring of 2024. He has put in extensive trail miles and has successfully completed rigourous cross-country packing expeditions.
- Dam: BLT Aster is a PLTA Basic String Pack Llama, PLTA Advanced Pack Llama who has earned her PLTA 100 mile patcch, Aster is also a preformance class winner who has earned 27 ILR points. She is a two time Champion in Novice Performance classes and has earned an ILR Certificate of Achievement. She is an excellent producer.
- Granddam: BLT Snowy Plover is a PLTA Basic Pack Llama who has producesd performance-class winners and PLTA Master Pack Llamas.
- Granddam: Augusta Edition has a PLTA Basic Pack Llama certificate. She a registered Ccara. She successfully competed in Maiden Performance classes. She has been an excellent producer and the mother of excellent producers and performance llamas.
- Grandsire: Eagel's Nest Americus In his youth, Americus fought a cougar and won. Americus produced sixteen offspring, successfully breeding at age nineteen.
- Grandsire: BLT Obsidian Edition was a pack llama who never tired. He accrued more than 2000 trail miles and particpated in numerous backcountry expeditions. He was one of only three llamas to earn a PLTA Elite String Pack Llama Certification. Sid's Resume.
- Great-granddam: Lilly Llama comes from ccara lines that go back to the beginning of the registry. She was a very successful show llama who went all the way to the ALSA national show in 1998.
- Great-grandsire: Gold'n Hawk's whose grandsire was imported from Bolivia, had an excellent physique as proven by his five Reserve Champion at Halter titles. His fleece, one containing massive guard-hair coat, won him high placements in fleece-on classes. Gold'n Hawk also placed well in performance classes. In his two-season show history, he earned 12 ILR points. Gold'n Hawk successfully completed a PLTA Master Pack Llama trial and was an experienced pack llama..
- Great-grandsire: The Special Editon was a National Champion at halter and in performance and a PLTA Master Pack Llama. Ed was an experienced backcountry packer with many miles to his credit.Ed's Resume
- Great-grandsire: UC Wahoo was one of nine llamas to earn PLTA Elite Pack Llama certificates, and was a foundation sire for our herd. He produced 16 crias all of whom completed PLTA pack llama certifications and have extensive packing histories. Wahoo's resume
