PERSONALITY
Bright Alert Gentle Willing Athletic Enjoys performance classes
Byline: "I love being with people."
|
BLT Patron's Pipit is a friendly youngster who thoroughly enjoys interacting with people. She began her basic training promptly so that by the time she was six months old she was hiking in a string and competently participating in performance classes in the shows.
Pipit's basic training has included all the things a young llama needs to know to allow them to function comfortably in association with humans. This includes being fully handleable, negotiating all manner of obstacles, tolerating new and confusing situations calmly, loading/unloading and traveling without stress. Pipit has excelled in all areas. She particularly enjoys being groomed while standing free.
Pipit has begun her field training. She carries a training saddle and comfortably works in any position in a string. Field training for Burns Llama Trailblazers' llamas takes place in rough country amid canyons and rimrock of the sagebrush steppe. The llamas are regularly confronted with steep rugged terrain, range cattle, and rattlesnakes. Trail conditions range from animal trails to cross-country rock and brush. Pipit handles these situations well. She will have no trouble successfully completing certification as a PLTA Basic Pack Llama.
(Please see the PLTA Pack Trial Handbook for a complete explanation of certification requirements.)
Pipit is a breeding quality female who comes from highly capable packing stock. Her excellent conformation supports superior athleticism. She has already proven herself to be a capable hiker in rough terrain. She comes from a line of proven producers and superb packers. Her heritage includes:
- Her sire, Latitude's Silver Patron, is one of a three certified PLTA Elite String Pack Llamas who has many trail miles and rugged pack trips to his credit. Patron is a highly capable guard llama.
- Her dam, BLT Tobias’ Sandpiper, is a PLTA Advanced Pack llama and has placed well in performanc classes. She is the mother of excellent pack llamas.
- Pipit's grandsire, Anders Tobias, was one of the very first llamas to earn a PLTA Master Pack Llama certificate. A feat he accomplished at a time when it was the highest honor available for pack llamas. Tobias was also a national champion at halter and in performance.
- Pipit's great-grandsire, UC Wahoo, was one of nine llamas to earn PLTA Elite Pack Llama certificates, and was a foundation sire for our herd. He produced 16 crias all of whom completed PLTA pack llama certifications and have extensive packing histories. Wahoo's resume
- Her great-great-grandsire, BFF A Patchy Warrior, was a PLTA certified Master Pack Llama, a National Champion at halter and in performance, and a proven producer of champions. Warrior's resume
